TEACHING & CONFERENCES

I’m an University teacher/assistant at ORT University, Montevideo. Teaching “Typography II” & “Typography I” classes since 2007. I was an instructor at Type Camp Brazil 2012, and given several workshops and conferences regarding Typography, Calligraphy & Graphic Design in Latin America, like Design e Cultura na América Latina in Universidad Nacional de Brasilia, organized by TiposLatinos (among others).

PROJECTS AND STARTUPS

Co-funder of FashionAttitude.com, (graduated from Start-Up Chile!) a worldwide fashion e-commerce project, with other 2 exclelent partners and friends. Founding member of Sociedad Tipográfica de Montevideo (Montevideo’s Tipographic Society). Created in 2008 with 3 other founders, now with 15 and growing. Co-funder & Coordinator at TipoType.com: the first type-foundry of Uruguay, FontsForHope.com: a font distribution project in which you help causes by buying fonts, and also Caligrafiti.uy. I’m also a country delegate for AtypI (Association Typographique International).

ACHIEVEMENTS

I participated in the book 'Tipografía Latinoamericana {Un panorama actual y futuro}' compiled by Vicente Lamónaca. I’ve done the typefaces: Quiroga Serif, Fénix, Logomotion & Libertad (Available Here). My typeface Fénix was selected by Google Inc. to be a GoogleWebFont, featured in SmashingMagazine as a 'High Quality Free font' and Behance.net. Quiroga Serif was awarded at Bienal Tipos Latinos 2008 & Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño 2010. Exposed all over the world, with a special exposition in Uruguay Design at Helsinki, Finland 2012. STM was selected in the Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño 2012 featuring my typeface Logomotion, along with Olga & Rufina from other members of the STM. I’ve also finished 3rd at Freelancer.com logo contest, selected from more than 8.000 designers. And finally I'm a former investigator at the national library, and rare/antique book collector.
